Solar Monitoring in Nigeria: How Joshville My Setups Works

A solar system should not become invisible the moment installation is complete. Joshville My Setups is the system record inside Solar AI: one place for the equipment installed at a property, its setup details, service activity and, when connected hardware is activated, live operating data.

What My Setups brings together

  • The inverter, battery, panels and important accessories assigned to the installation.
  • System capacity, installation details, warranty references and service history.
  • Solar generation, household consumption, battery state of charge and grid status from compatible connected equipment.
  • Fault and performance alerts that can be shared with Joshville support when assistance is needed.

Keeping the equipment record and performance record together matters. A low battery reading means something different on a 5 kWh system than it does on a 15 kWh system. My Setups gives the app and support team the context needed to interpret the signal correctly.

How the Joshville monitoring hardware communicates

The monitoring module sits beside compatible system equipment and communicates through supported interfaces such as RS485, CAN or the inverter manufacturer's data connection. It translates selected operating measurements into a consistent Joshville format and sends them securely to the customer's setup in Solar AI.

The hardware does not replace the inverter's safety controls or the battery management system. Those protections remain local and continue working even if internet service is unavailable. When connectivity returns, the module can resume sending new readings and supported stored events.

The four readings homeowners actually need

  • Solar generation: how much power the panels are producing now and over the day.
  • Household load: how much power the home is using and when demand peaks.
  • Battery health: current state of charge, charge/discharge behaviour and supported warning signals.
  • Grid status: when public supply is present and how the hybrid system moves between solar, battery and grid.

These readings answer practical questions: Did the battery reach a full charge today? Is an unexpected appliance draining it overnight? Has panel output dropped after dust or shading? Is the grid charging setting using more power than expected?

Alerts, support and safe controls

Solar AI is designed to turn raw readings into useful actions. Supported alerts can flag low state of charge, abnormal battery behaviour, reduced solar production or an inverter fault. With the customer's permission, a Joshville technician can use the same setup record to understand the problem before a visit.

Remote controls will be limited to commands supported safely by the connected inverter and the customer's configuration. The app will not bypass inverter protection, battery BMS limits or installer-defined electrical settings.

Compatibility and the August 2026 rollout

The first customer rollout is scheduled for August 2026 and will begin with compatible Joshville-installed inverter and battery combinations. Compatibility depends on the exact model and communication protocol, not only the brand name. Existing customers will be checked model by model before a monitoring module is assigned.

Solar AI remains useful before hardware pairing for discovering products, building and saving a setup, following orders and managing the Joshville customer journey. Connected monitoring adds the live performance layer to that same setup rather than creating a separate account or app.

Frequently asked questions

Can I monitor my Joshville solar system from my phone?+

Solar AI My Setups is designed to show generation, household load, battery state of charge and grid status when a compatible Joshville monitoring module is paired. The first connected-hardware customer rollout is scheduled for August 2026 and starts with compatible Joshville-installed systems.

Will Joshville solar monitoring work without internet?+

The inverter and battery safety systems continue operating locally without internet. Live readings cannot reach the phone while connectivity is unavailable; the monitoring module can resume sending new readings and supported stored events after service returns.

Can Solar AI control my inverter remotely?+

Remote controls are limited to commands that the specific inverter supports safely and that Joshville enables for the installation. Solar AI does not bypass inverter protection, battery-management limits or installer-defined electrical settings.

Can an existing solar installation use Joshville monitoring?+

Possibly. Compatibility depends on the exact inverter and battery models, available RS485, CAN or manufacturer data interfaces, and the installation configuration. Joshville must verify the equipment before assigning a monitoring module.
