Plan backup power for a shop at closing time

Follow the last hour of business

Walk through taking the final payment, saving records and locking up. List the devices each step needs, such as the router, payment terminal and lights. Record what has to keep running after staff leave and for how long.

Ask for a demonstration at handover

Give the installer the list and ask which loads will have backup, including any equipment with a high start-up demand. Arrange a demonstration of the agreed closing routine and ask staff to practice it. Keep a short copy of the routine where the next shift can find it.
